Outside of his work as an experienced finance leader and builder in the technology industry, Wade Ang donates to a number of charitable causes. Wade Ang contributes to both large organizations, such as the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity, and local ones such as Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Second Harvest Food Bank was founded in 1974. It has grown to become one of the largest food banks in the country, contributing food to around a quarter of a million people each month throughout the Bay Area and the rural areas directly south. The Food Bank not only gives food to people who are disadvantaged but also connects them with resources such as CalFresh, a supplemental food program that is funded by the state.

Second Harvest is assisted by its many volunteers, who contribute over 300,000 volunteer hours each fiscal year. One notable way that Second Harvest volunteers contribute is through political activism. This is an organized way to volunteer, not unlike participating in a food sort or distributing food in the community. The food bank provides volunteer advocates with research information, provides resources for contacting lawmakers, and generally points advocates in the right direction to support their political mission.
